The Argyle Shirt

The Argyle Shirt - A PIctorial History

“The Argyle Shirt – A pictorial history” will be a book that will bring the history of Plymouth Argyle to life through a collection of photographs and memories based on Argyle’s distinctive green, white and black playing kit.

For many years, Argyle were unique in the English Football League for adopting green shirts, and this remains key to the core identity of the club.

I will be working with the Plymouth Argyle Heritage Archive (PAHA) to bring the history of the club to life through this record of the green, white, and black shirts (as well as the occasional yellows, purples, and blues) worn by The Pilgrims in their history.

Researching the "Argyle Shirt - A pictorial history"

To complete the project, we are looking for club issue and match used playing kit, either on loan or to add to PAHA’s archive.

If you have any items of Argyle playing kit that  may be for interest, please get in touch
