About Matt Ellacott

I have have been taking photographs ever since I got my first camera in 1980 and I am very lucky that my career path has led me to making photography my job.

There is no greater satisfaction than capturing unique moments and connections, and I love the whole creative process and producing something special either for a client or for myself.

Many of my inspirations come from the 1920’s and 30’s, and vintage Hollywood and Film Noir portraits are some of my favourite photography styles.  I also enjoy exploring different creative challenges, for example Renaissance style photographs.  I love to work with performers, and have also photographed many dance events and festivals in the UK and Europe.

When I am not behind a camera, I am a Lindy Hop dance addict and adore Swing Music and old movies. I help run Oxford Lindy Hoppers and have been creating and producing dance festivals in Oxford since 2014.  Travel is another huge passion of mine, and I have been fortunate enough to visit some wonderful destinations with my camera always in hand. The Art Deco splendour of New York City is my favourite destination.  I am lucky to share these passions with my beautiful wife Eleanor.

I am a trustee of the Plymouth Argyle Heritage Archive, and am compiling an Argyle history book “The Argyle Shirt – A pictorial history”.
